Past meetings

Oct. 26, 2023

Penn Color, which manufactures color concentrates and pigment dispersions for plastics, hosted our SPE section to tour its global headquarters and manufacturing facility located in Hatfield, PA. Participants were very impressed with the tour and appreciated the opportunity for interactive, hands-on learning about color matching and masterbatch production. Some who were relatively new to the industry called it “eye opening” and we are especially appreciative of Penn Color for sharing our mission to educate. Many thanks to Penn Color for their generosity in hosting the tour and networking dinner! Click here for some background about Penn Color.

Sept. 21, 2023

Thank you to Lehigh University’s professors Ray Pearson and our presenters for hosting us Sept. 21, 2023 in Lehigh’s mixed and virtual reality lab in the new Health, Science and Technology Building that allows viewers to interact with holograms. We were able to try out the HoloLens2 ‘smart glasses’ and experience a unique way to imagine and interact with molecular structures for ourselves.  We heard about research in biomedical 3D-printing from Materials Science and Bioengineering professor Lesley Chow and saw a demonstration of 3D modeling from Visiting Scholar in Lehigh’s Nano | Human Interfaces (NHI) Presidential Initiative, Joan Stanescu.
